The Federal Board of Revenue has extended the date for submitting income tax returns pertaining to tax year 2024. Initially, the deadline was September 30, 2024, then it extended up to October 14, 2024. Now, taxpayers have until Oct 31st, 2024 for filing their return.
Responding to widespread appeals by trade organizations and other taxation professionals, this notification was issued in Circular No. 3 of 2024-25. It also takes into account the recently announced holidays for banks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as notified by the Cabinet Division on October 7, 2024.
This way, the FBR is able to encourage and assist the otherwise inevitable unnecessary holidaying of the taxpayers, thus promoting compliance with tax laws. The taxpayers are also encouraged to utilize the extra time for finishing their filing without any hassle or penalty.
