To date, the Federal Board of Revenue has filed 4.821 million income tax returns for fiscal year 2024. As reported by the revenues, to date, as of October 26, 2024, while FBR received only 2.407 million returns in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 2.4 million returns has been reported.
So far this year, the FBR has collected Rs. 123 billion in taxes from these filings, a significant rise from the Rs. 56.55 billion collected during the same period in FY2023. Notably, 528,638 of these returns have come from new taxpayers.
Clarifies the FBR that further dates will not be extended on income tax return filing; it is expected to complete before 31st October 2024. Earlier deadline was already pushed back earlier from an earlier date from October 14th back on 31st October All taxpayers are being requested to file before time and avoid the consequence.
