The government of Sindh fixed the minimum wage at Rs. 37,000 for each employee of the industrial and commercial sector across the province, which was approved by the Chief Minister of Sindh. This would come into effect from July 1, 2024.

The minimum wage has already been enhanced to Rs. 37,000 as promised by the Sindh government in its annual budget for 2024-25. This would ensure that a woman worker of an industry gets the same remuneration as is received by her male colleague. In case any work station of an industry already pays more than the newly decided minimum wages, the wages of workers working there would not be brought down.
All such industries and businesses of the province of Sindh must implement the new rate of wages and will immediately do so.

Introducing a province-wide registration for workers, the Sindh government has decided that this system should not only be tailored to better include factory-working-class people but also extend to domestic and house workers so that more people can have greater access to rights and benefits.

The head of the department informed that during the meeting of the Labor and Human Resource Department, Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah showed this registration drive of much importance. He ordered the local administrations to help in this regard and called for public awareness that would create awareness among the workers regarding their rights and facilities the government provides for them.

Sindh government is moving ahead to protect workers’ rights and enhance the quality of their life.
