SBP observes public holiday on Iqbal Day, November 9, 2024.
KARACHI: All banking and financial institutions will observe a holiday on November 9, 2024 on Allama Iqbal Day, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.
Bank and other holidays have been announced by the SBP through a circular issued by the Banking Policy and Regulations Department. As per the announcement, all the Development Finance Institutions, Micro Finance Banks, and banks will remain closed on Saturday, November 9, 2024. It is a public holiday regarding the 147th birth anniversary of the famous poet, philosopher, and the “Conceiver of Pakistan” – Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

On Allama Iqbal – the poet of the East, there was a role in creating the idea of an independent Muslim state that eventually bequeathed Pakistan; his contribution to philosophy, literature, and political thought has left an indelible mark on this world. Therefore, on this day, it is a momentous occasion for people of Pakistan across the globe.
On this day, institutions and people of Pakistan will celebrate Iqbal’s profound influence on the cultural and ideological foundations of the nation.
