NADRA Introduces Biometric B-Form for Children Over 10
National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new biometric B-Form for children over 10 years of age. The new form has advanced security features to further protect the identities of children.
Why the Change?
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the new B-Form will contain a photograph and fingerprints. This will help in enhancing the protection of identity and stop the misuse of children’s identity. The government is working on reducing issues such as fake ID cards, illegal passports, and human trafficking.
What You Need to Know
Starting from January 15, 2025, NADRA will issue the new biometric B-Form in phases. For this purpose, children have to visit a NADRA center along with their parent or legal guardian. They should also bring the child’s computerized birth certificate and the parent’s computerized identity card.
The B-Form is issued with a photograph and fingerprints of the child after completing the process. In order to apply for a new passport, one will require an updated B-Form, because the old version without biometric data is not valid anymore.
Future Improvements Plan
The Ministry of Interior has also announced that the system would be further improved. In the future, NADRA might add iris scans and other security measures at the union councils. Furthermore, the Pak ID mobile application will soon be updated, and digital IDs will be issued to all Pakistani citizens.
This new B-Form is an important step toward protecting the identity of children and ensuring a safer future for everyone.
