Karachi Customs Seizes Massive Smuggling Operation Involving American Almonds

Karachi: Karachi Customs Enforcement made a huge find on March 1, 2025. Customs intercepted a giant smuggling operation when American almonds were being smuggled in consignments of brown-eyed beans. These products moved through the Green Channel, but Customs picked up on them from credible intelligence sources.

Customs officers did not hesitate and raided a godown in the Falcon Logistic Complex on Hub River Road, Karachi. They scanned a container (No. CSLU2394740) and a truck (TKL-072) about a consignment in record GD No. KAPW-HC-142259-28-02-2025. They tested brown-eyed beans on the outside when they scanned them for the first time but discovered vast quantities of American almonds concealed behind the beans during detailed examination.

At the godown, additional American almonds, vegetable seeds, and brown-eyed beans were discovered in other containers associated with the suspicious shipments.

The second operation was conducted at Haroonabad Godown within the SITE Area, where Customs intercepted two additional containers: TLLU3091274 (vehicle TKZ-090) and TIIU2373517 (vehicle TAD-487), associated with GD No. KAPW-HC-142275-28-02-2025. The same technique was applied in both containers: the top layer of brown-eyed beans, covered by American almonds.

Additional inspections in the SITE Area warehouse produced more American almonds, American-brand slings film, and brown-eyed beans. All of these items were linked to the same suspicious shipments.

Customs also inspected the WeBOC system and noticed that one shipment (GD No. KAPW-HC-142259-28-02-2025) had already been cleared. Two containers from another shipment (GD No. KAPW-HC-142275-28-02-2025) were pending clearance at the KICT Terminal. Customs officers intercepted these containers and inspected them, discovering the same smuggling scheme with American almonds concealed behind layers of brown-eyed beans.

The action demonstrates Karachi Customs’ continued measures to fight against smuggling and the entry of contraband in the country.
