KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has admitted two Special Customs Reference Applications (SCRAs) filed by the Collector of Customs (West) against Ijaz Ahmed. The court has ordered that notices be issued to the respondent, with a hearing scheduled for October 22, 2025.
The case came before the court with Sardar Zafar Hussain, the advocate for the applicant department, arguing that the judgment by the Special Customs Appellate Tribunal lacked independent analysis or reasoning. He stated that the decision was simply a reproduction of material, leading to an incoherent conclusion, which could not be considered a proper ruling.
The bench acknowledged the arguments and decided to admit the reference applications. It also suspended the execution of the tribunal’s judgment in Customs Appeals No. K-3611 and K-3643 of 2024, pending further proceedings.
Notices have been ordered to be served to the respondent for the next hearing on October 22, 2025.
