The Customs Enforcement at Panjgur has recovered 30 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as “ice,” estimated at Rs 450 million in a successful operation, sources said. The drugs were recovered during an intelligence-led operation along the N-85 highway near Panjgur.
The operation targeted a silver Toyota Vitz, which was intercepted near the Panjgur-Washuk District border. Based on reliable information that the drugs were being transported from Basima to the coastal belt, Customs officials searched the vehicle and found that crystal meth was hidden inside 30 plastic bags in different compartments of the vehicle.
Besides the drugs, the Customs Department also seized the vehicle, which was valued at Rs 2.5 million and not customs cleared (Non-Customs Paid, or NCP). Both the drugs and the vehicle were taken into custody.
In the statement, the FBR said that it was once again committed to fighting narcotics and safeguarding the society against this increasing menace. The successful operation exemplifies the dedicated efforts of Customs towards curtailing the illegal drug trafficking.
