Recently, Pakistan and China had extensive deliberations on the four key infrastructure ventures which would be undertaken to strengthen connectivity within Pakistan.
Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Communications, Privatization & Board of Investment visited Beijing where he met with Chinese Minister for Transport, Mr. Li Xiapeng. The hour-long meeting saw both ministers showing a deep intent at working on these critical projects.
Those core issues were public-private partnerships and financial plans for ensuring the success of the projects. It was more critical because they decided to complete the links in the CPEC needed for now, which were:
- Motorway from Sukkur to Hyderabad
- Railway Project ML-1 from Seaport to Multan and Lahore
- Karakoram Highway from Thakot to Ranikot
- Highways in Kaghan, Naran, Jhal Khand, and Babusar Top
Abdul Aleem Khan expressed gratitude to China for consistent cooperation and expected that the international conference on transport would bring more benefits and further development in the future to Pakistan.
Mr. Li Xiapeng assured his department support for all future projects of Pakistan. The other participants are the Pakistani Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, and the senior officials of both countries.
This partnership will be important, marking an important step in the direction toward improving infrastructure and investment in the development of the region.
