Pakistan’s Exports to North America Increase by 10.19%, Reaching $5.91 Billion

Exports of merchandise from Pakistan to North America have risen by 10.19%, reaching $5.91 billion during the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025 (11MFY25). This is an increase from $5.363 billion during the same period last year. The rise is largely attributed to increased textile and apparel exports to the United States.

It is the US that has been a leading contributor to this growth, and it accounted for close to 94% of all exports to North America by Pakistan. The rest of the exports were primarily sent to Canada. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reports that a decline in textile exports from rival nations such as Bangladesh and Vietnam has boosted this increase in Pakistan’s exports.

US exports increased by 11.06%, or to $5.552 billion in 11MFY25 from $4.999 billion during the comparable period of the previous year. Yet, if full-year data for FY24 is examined, there is a decrease of 8.26% in exports to the US, down from $5.932 billion of FY23 to $5.442 billion. US exports had been as high as $6.74 billion in FY22 before plummeting by 23.28% in FY23.

In contrast, Canada-bound exports decreased slightly by 1.68% to reach $357.23 million during 11MFY25 from $363.34 million during the corresponding period last year. During FY24, exports to Canada declined by 8.77%, down from $426.58 million in FY23 to $389.16 million.

On the import front, Pakistan’s imports from North America also registered a growth. Imports rose by 25.8%, amounting to $2.374 billion in 11MFY25, from $1.887 billion during the corresponding period last year. The US emerged as the top supplier, with $2.153 billion of these imports, up 23.8% from $1.739 billion during FY24.

Pakistan exports to Latin America also exhibited a positive trend. The exports to the region increased by 23.82% to $71.17 million in 11MFY25 from $57.47 million last year. Full-year results for FY24 indicate an impressive 46.59% rise in exports to Latin America to $77.82 million from $53.09 million in FY23.
