Quaid-i-Azam University Suspends Activities Due to Road Closures

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad has announced that it will remain suspended of the academic activities and transport services from Friday, November 22, to Monday, November 25, 2024, because of the current citywide road closures. The choice was made in view of the current situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where it became tough for transports to be operated smoothly.

The university communicated the news through its official notification from the office of the Registrar. It assured that examinations and all academic activities planned for these dates will be postponed.

QAU has reassured students and staff that academic activities, including exams, will resume immediately as soon as the road conditions improve. To facilitate students, the university plans to provide advance notice of at least three days before starting exams.

This decision, in consultation with the relevant authorities, has been taken, and the Deans, Department Heads, and other officials of the university have also been so informed. During this period, transport services are also not available-including buses and vehicles of the university.

In light of this decision, the Pakistani government has also implemented partial blockages on mobile and internet services in parts of Islamabad and other areas as the PTI party is to stage a protest on November 24. Mobile internet has been suspended from November 23 in precaution.
QAU students and faculty are requested to keep themselves updated about any further announcements from the university and the government regarding the situation.
