Pakistan Authorizes Military Response to Indian Strikes: National Security Council

Pakistan’s National Security Council (NSC) has given permission to the country’s army to take action in response to recent Indian military strikes. The decision came after India reportedly carried out attacks across the border, which Pakistan says killed innocent civilians and violated its national sovereignty.

The NSC held a meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday. After the meeting, a strong statement was released saying Pakistan has the right to defend itself under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The statement said Pakistan would decide the time, place, and method to respond to these attacks.

“The Pakistani Armed Forces are now officially allowed to take action in response,” the statement added.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased sharply. India said it attacked “terrorist infrastructure” inside Pakistan, while Pakistan sees it as an unjustified and serious aggression.
