Karachi: In a historic milestone, the largest cargo ship carrying petroleum gas (LPG) docked recently at Qasim International Terminal in Karachi, Pakistan.

For the first time in the history of Pakistan, a ship loaded with up to 11,000 tons of LPG headed to Karachi port. The large cargo ship, originating from the Iraqi city of Basra, carried 5,000 tons of LPG for private importers and another 6,000 tons for private ports.

This significant event follows the recent arrival on September 29 of the largest cargo ship to date, measuring an impressive 355 meters, at one of Karachi’s Qasim ports. The docked vessel is unloaded at a port operated by DP World.

The ship in question, APL LE HARVE of Singapore, arrived at Qasim Port Karachi from Jeddah after a two-day voyage, carrying import orders from different parts of the country. The port authorities have confirmed that the vessel will be delivered to India once the shipping process is completed successfully.

It is worth noting that this achievement was shortly followed in December 2019, when the largest ship in the history of Pakistan, ‘Cosco Belgium’, docked at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT). This huge ship, which is docked at the South Quay area of Karachi Port, is an important moment in the maritime history of the country.
