A first direct sea route between Pakistan and Bangladesh was completed with the arrival of a cargo ship from Karachi, Pakistan, at Chittagong Port in Bangladesh.
The ship, with capacity around 2,300 TEUs, has carried goods that point toward the urgent demand of direct trade links between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The Pakistan high commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, has termed this direct shipping route as a major step forward in the area of trade and business relations for the two nations. He said that this endeavour would not only accelerate the existing flows of trade but also unlock new business opportunities, thereby widening regional trade networks.
