ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports saw a 10.60% increase during the first seven months of the 2024-25 financial year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Textile exports reached a total of $10.77 billion during the period from July to January, compared to $9.74 billion in the same months last year.
Key textile products that contributed to this growth include cotton cloth, which rose by 3.99% to $1.13 billion, and knitwear, which saw an 18.16% increase to $3.03 billion. Other products that grew include bed wear (up 14.71% to $1.87 billion), towels (up 6% to $632 million), and tents, canvas, and tarpaulin (up 18.91% to $84 million).
Ready-made garments also saw strong growth, rising by 21.90% to $2.44 billion, while exports of art, silk, and synthetic textiles increased by 12.91% to $237 million. Made-up articles (excluding towels and bedwear) rose by 10.98% to $460 million, and other textile materials grew by 4.55% to $433 million.
However, some textile products experienced a decline. Raw cotton exports dropped by 98.90%, from $55.75 million to just $616,000. Cotton yarn exports also fell by 35.77%, from $669.83 million to $430.23 million, and exports of cotton carded or combed dropped by 98%.
On a year-on-year basis, textile exports increased by 15.85% in January 2025, reaching $1.69 billion compared to $1.46 billion in January 2024. When compared to December 2024, textile exports rose by 14.12%, from $1.48 billion to $1.69 billion.
