SBP Introduces New Service Desk System and VPN Access for Enhanced Security
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced a new Service Desk System to facilitate financial institutions in handling complaints regarding SBP-hosted portals, such as the Regulatory Approval System (RAS). This system will enable regulated entities (REs) to file and monitor their complaints more effectively.
From May 30, 2025, the SBP will enhance the security of these portals by moving from normal web access to Virtual Private Network (VPN)-based access. To access the RAS and Service Desk portals securely via VPN, financial institutions will be required to obtain Multifactor Authentication (MFA) licenses. REs are advised to procure these MFA accounts prior to the transition date to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
In addition, the SBP has computerized the whole process of receiving requests and proposals from regulated institutions and issuing its decisions. This is done using the Regulatory Approval System (RAS), which makes it faster and more efficient.
