Pakistan Plans to Link CNIC with Medical Records
The Ministry of Health and NADRA are working together on a new system called “One Patient, One ID.” This system will connect every person’s medical record to their CNIC number. It means that doctors can access your health history from anywhere in Pakistan.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal led a meeting with NADRA Chairman Lt Gen Mohammad Munir Afsar to discuss the plan.
The Health Minister said, “Right now, there is no proper system to keep patient records in Pakistan. By using the CNIC number as the permanent Medical Record (MR) number, we can solve this problem.”
How This Will Help
This new system will:
Make healthcare more organized
Help doctors give better treatment
Support telemedicine, so people can get medical advice and medicine at home
The minister said that technology can improve healthcare for everyone. He also said that most people go to large hospitals, which puts a lot of pressure on them. Around 70% of patients skip smaller clinics and health units.
He added, “This system will help provide care in local areas and reduce the crowd in big hospitals.”
