PSL 10 May Be Delayed Because of Security Issues
Season 10 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) could be delayed as a result of increasing tensions between Pakistan and India. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any formal announcement, but a high-level meeting is imminent to determine what the next step will be.
What’s Happening?
Recent instances of Indian drones entering Pakistani airspace have raised serious concern. One of these drones even struck Rawalpindi Food Street, which is merely a few meters from Rawalpindi Stadium—a location for ongoing PSL matches.
The eliminator matches are also going to be conducted in Lahore, another city where such airspace violations were reported.
Player Safety Comes First
Sides such as Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi have international players, and the PCB is ensuring their safety extremely seriously. Although Pakistan’s airspace was closed for a while, it has been reopened now. Teams are keeping their fingers crossed that they will be able to send international players back safely if required.
What to Expect Next?
Though the tournament was set to proceed as scheduled, the present security environment renders it extremely probable that PSL 10 will be indefinitely postponed. Updates will be communicated after the PCB holds their formal meeting.
