LDA Seals 96 Illegal Properties in Lahore
Lahore Development Authority sealed 96 illegal properties and demolished several unauthorized structures in Lahore on Thursday while undertaking a major operation enforcing building regulations. The operation was undertaken under the supervision of LDA Director General, Tahir Farooq to eradicate illegal constructions in the city.
The crackdown was extended to places such as Gulberg, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Shadman, and Gulshan Ravi. In these places, the authorities sealed 33 properties in Gulberg, New Garden Town, and Faisal Town and another 33 properties in Allama Iqbal Town. It also sealed 30 in Shadman and Gulshan Ravi. Included in the sealed properties are private schools, offices, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, salons, and other commercial spaces.
In addition to the sealing arrangements, the LDA teams demolished illegitimate constructions on Wapda Town, Defence Road, and College Road Township. Property owners had issued with numerous notices before the actual exercise.
Chief Town Planner Asad-ul-Zaman, Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, supervised this operation. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said the authority strictly follows legal construction practices within the city. He said, “We will go on taking strict action against illegal commercial buildings, tax defaulters, and unauthorized constructions.”
