DG NADRA Sacked Over Found False Degrees
Hum News has reported that the head of the National Database and Registration Authority, Zulfiqar Ahmed, a director general, has been released from his position after it was discovered that his degrees. issued to him were false.
This controversy first emerged in 2023, when the newly appointed chairman of NADRA directed that the academic qualification. of all officials be looked into with a fine toothcomb, Although Ahmed had already, in 2018, obtained equivalency certificates from HEC for all his degrees, more careful. scrutiny revealed the grave discrepancy.
The Discovery of Fake Degrees
During the verification process, HEC contacted the institutions mentioned on Ahmed’s degree documents. However, both of them declared that they were not having any kind of affiliation with him.
George Mason University, United States confirmed that they do not have a student named Zulfiqar Ahmed in their record, and rejected the student number produced as bogus.
Westwood College had closed its operations where from Ahmed has claimed his BBA, and no records available for verification.
Additionally, his MBA was also called into question as his signature on it was traced to someone other than the president of the university during the time it was issued.
Action Taken by NADRA and HEC
After this discovery, HEC conducted a comprehensive investigation and withdrew Ahmed’s equivalency certificates. Islamabad High Court sided with HEC’s move, which made NADRA’s case against Ahmed even more solid.
Zulfiqar Ahmed was dismissed from the position of NADRA DG as he failed to present a cogent explanation regarding the show-cause notice. NADRA’s chairman said that the dismissal was done in the light of the judgment of the court and the unavailability of any credible evidence to prove the qualifications of Ahmed.
This incident shows how the credentials of high officials are checked and how NADRA values integrity in its organization.
