Sindh Lawyers Extend Protest, Demand Written Confirmation from Government

Karachi: Lawyers in Sindh have decided to continue their protest and suspend court work, even after Prime Minister Shahbaaz Sharif and PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced a delay in the construction of new canals.

An urgent meeting was held by lawyers at Babarloo Bypass in Khairpur, where they discussed the recent announcement. The lawyers expressed concern and said they will not stop protesting until the federal government issues an official notification confirming the halt of the canal project.

As part of the protest, court proceedings were once again suspended across the province. City Court in Karachi remained empty, and similar scenes were reported in other areas of Sindh.

The lawyers have now given the government another 48 hours to issue a formal written order. They stated that court work will only resume once this notification is released.

This protest has been going on for 8 days and has severely affected court activities in the province. The legal community remains united in its demand for a clear and official document confirming the suspension of the canal project.
