FBR Takes Action Against Wedding Halls for Failing to Collect Taxes
Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue’s Regional Tax Office 1 in Karachi has opened a case against four marriage halls for not collecting taxes from their customers as required by the Income Tax Ordinance of 2001, particularly Section 236CB.
These wedding halls were repeatedly instructed to collect taxes from customers. and deposit the amounts collected in the national treasury. They, however. did not comply with such instructions.
The crackdown is said to be a part of the FBR’s efforts to broaden the tax net and ensure better compliance with tax laws. Authorities have informed the wedding halls that they may take tougher measures and might. even take them to courts in case of no compliance.
The FBR appeals to all the marriage halls’ owners to understand their importance in collecting taxes because by following the rules they contribute to the strengthening. of national treasury and can help raise a culture of tax compliances.
