LAHORE: Customs officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) recently stopped an attempt to smuggle 220kg of pork and 22 bottles of liquor into the country. The contraband was discovered in the luggage of Chinese nationals arriving on flight ER-724 from Dubai, according to Deputy Collector (DC) Customs Mudassir Rafiq.
The pork was confiscated and will be disposed of, while the liquor was seized in line with customs regulations. The operation was carried out under the direction of Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani, with supervision by DC Customs Mudassir Rafiq and Superintendent Shahid Ali.
Customs authorities have been working to increase efforts to prevent the smuggling of prohibited items at airports in Punjab. This action is part of ongoing efforts following instructions from Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani to tackle smuggling activities more effectively.
