Pakistan Is Now Economically Stable Thanks to Government’s Top Priority for Growth: Khurram Shehzad
ISLAMABAD: The Finance Minister’s Economic and Financial Reforms Advisor, Khurram Shehzad, unveiled the fact that Pakistan is now economically stable thanks to the government’s commitment to long-term economic growth and sustainable growth.
He came up with this information during the New Member Ceremony 2025 held by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Khurram identified that Pakistan’s success in economic reform had been noted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and that they acknowledged the efforts of the state in taking major economic steps. “Macroeconomic stability has been achieved, and the economic indicators are showing positive signs,” he went on.
The adviser emphasized that the topmost priority of the government is increasing the revenue base of taxation and getting rid of wasteful spending, whereas fiscal discipline and long-term growth have been designated as key priorities. He added that Pakistan aims for effective and export-driven foreign direct investment (FDI) so that the economic pillar of the country can be stabilized.
As far as reforms in the public sector are concerned, Khurram described how the government is merging 43 federal ministries and over 400 attached departments to achieve efficiency and end fiscal imbalances. He continued that 150,000 vacant positions had been abolished and no new appointments were in the pipeline.
Khurram also mentioned the ongoing privatization of the SOEs to increase governance and efficiency. He valued the decline in inflation and growth in foreign exchange reserves as being positive news for the economy.
He welcomed ACCA Pakistan members and new members on their success in the accounting and finance sector. In addition, he welcomed Ayla Majid on her appointment as Global President of ACCA as a proud moment for Pakistan.
Khurram encouraged young professionals to give importance to working in Pakistan and stated, “Challenges are everywhere, whether in the country or outside, but through passion, hard work, and discipline, one can achieve success.” He again emphasized that Pakistan’s future was going to depend a lot on the youth of Pakistan and stated, “Our youth should drive this nation. They have the potential and obligation to take Pakistan forward.”
The advisor urged the youth to remain hopeful and positive about Pakistan’s future, encouraging them to continue contributing to the nation’s progress.
