Pakistan Cement Sales Decline during. First Seven Months of FY25
Sales of cement in Pakistan declined by 7.6% in the first seven months of the fiscal year FY25, amounting to 21.435 million tonnes against 23.196 million tonnes of the same period last fiscal year. On the other hand, local cement sales in January 2025 went up by 11.64% against last year.
Cement exports, however, recorded a good. growth, increasing by 31.54% to 5.392 million tonnes in the first seven months of FY25 compared to 4.099 million tonnes last year.
Total Cement Sales Decline
Total cement sales, which include both local and export sales, declined by 1.7% to 26.827 million tonnes from 27.295 million tonnes in the same period last year.
In January 2025, domestic cement sales rose by 11.6% year-on-year to 3.313 million tonnes. Export sales also rose by 30.25%, from 446,595 tons in January 2024 to 581,691 tons in January 2025.
Demands for Tax Reform to Push the Cement Industry
A spokesperson for the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, APCMA, called on the government to rethink the tax structure for cement. Reducing the cost for consumers may encourage more construction activity and create jobs in the sector since cement is an essential commodity, such reforms can help stimulate growth in the industry.
