NADRA Identity Card Services at Pakistan Post Offices Closed Due to Low Usage

NADRA Shuts Down CNIC Services at Post Offices Across Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has stopped all its ID card services at General Post Offices (GPOs) in Pakistan. This move comes after three years of working with Pakistan Post to provide CNIC-related services like card renewals, address changes, and marital status updates.

According to Express News, the main reason for closing these services is low public response and lack of awareness. Even though the goal was to make CNIC services easier to access and reduce the rush at NADRA offices, many people didn’t know they could use post offices for these tasks.

NADRA has ordered the closure of 83 service counters in major cities, including 10 in Karachi. Staff at these counters have been asked to return all equipment and deposit any fees collected. Any CNICs that are ready must be delivered to applicants before the counters are removed.

A NADRA spokesperson said that the equipment from the post offices would be moved to union council offices in the next financial year to improve local services.

Officials also admitted that no proper awareness campaign was launched, which led to poor public use of the service.
