Pakistani Goods Seized in DRI’s ‘Op Deep Manifest’

Pakistani Commodities Worth $9 Crore Impounded in ‘Op Deep Manifest’; DRI Discovers False UAE Declaration
During a recent operation titled ‘Op Deep Manifest’, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) impounded Pakistani commodities valued at $9 crore which were smuggled into India. The DRI reports that these commodities were wrongly declared to be of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an effort to evade customs inspection and duty.

The authorities added that the traders in question attempted to conceal the source of the goods by fraudulently labeling them as UAE imports. This fictile declaration is a grievous customs violation and can result in huge penalties under Indian law.

The inquiry by the DRI found that the source of the goods seized was actually Pakistan. The Op Deep Manifest operation was specifically implemented to trap such customs fraud cases and secure India’s borders against illicit trade.

The government officials also revealed that describing Pakistani products as UAE-origin was done with a clear intention to avail easier trade regulations with the UAE and escape higher duties levied on Pakistani imports.

The DRI has confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in this illegal trade. Customs officers are now working to prevent more such cases by closely checking import documents and verifying the real source of goods.

This seizure shows the DRI’s strong commitment to stopping smuggling and protecting the Indian economy from customs fraud.
