Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exports are hurt by report 2% cess.
Traders and exporters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are now attacking a recently levied cess of 2% on exports that, according to them, has begun creating a slowdown in export business from the region, and they say if it continues, businesses may be compelled to shift their export activities to other provinces.

The local business community has been highly vocal with it’s utmost frustration, contending that this export duty enforced by the provincial government resulted not only in the erosion of exports but also under heavy financial losses for exporters. They argue that unless the authorities take an appropriate decision in time, the export operation may shift out of KP permanently.

Besides the load of the cess, the problems of the poor infrastructure with inadequate facilities at Azakhel dry port have added issues for the traders, and hence, made them even more challenging tasks to carry out export activities without any obstacles.

The provincial government is urged to lift the 2% cess immediately to save further damage to the KP’s export industry and to let the local businesses flourish.
