FIRs Filed for Goods Pilferage at NLC Dry Port Quetta
The Directorate of Transit Trade Quetta has acted against bonded carriers, clearing agents, and goods owners for pilfering transshipment goods. Two different FIRs have been lodged on this account.
    Parties Involved in the Case
FIRs have been filed against the following:
M/s Jalat Khan & Company Pvt Ltd (Bonded Carrier)
    M/s Meer Brothers (Goods Owner)
M/s Hamza and Brothers (Clearing Agent)
As in the earlier case, on the same charges. a case was presented against:

    M/s Lucky Diamond (Bonded Carrier)
    M/s Meer Brothers (Goods Owner)
M/s Hamza and Brothers (Clearing Agent)
    How Case Was Detected
Transit Trade Quetta, Director Muhammad Ismail received some information about the would-be pilferage and issued instructions to assist director Arshad Zubair to begin an investigation, who formed the follow-up party consisting of IPS Tanveer Inspector Nasir Khan and sepoys.

The goods involved were foreign-origin chips and chocolates, which were being transshipped from the Land Customs Border Station at Taftan to the NLC Dry Port in Quetta. On arrival, it was found that the wire securing the tarpaulin covering the consignment had been cut.

    Examination Results
An inspection was held at the NLC Dry Port in the presence of NLC staff and representatives of TPL Tracker Pvt Ltd. It was found that the consignment was pilfered in transit because no party, which had a right to open the consignment on arrival, appeared to de-seal the consignment.

    Bonded Carriers and Agents’ Responsibilities
Bonded carriers and clearing agents are legally responsible for:

Maintaining the safety and integrity of goods while in transit.
Present the consignment to Customs Authorities for inspection and further processing.
Deliver bonded transshipment goods to their destinations without tampering by any individual.
Therefore, such a matter highlights the urgent necessity of proper regulations with adherence to prevent such violations in the future.
