KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has temporarily suspended the suspension orders of custom agent licenses following a petition filed by six importers. The petitioners, including Ittehad Agency, Shah & Sons Enterprise, Khurram Brothers, Fair and Fair Enterprises, J.I.T Enterprises, and Hamd Associates, challenged a demand notice issued without a proper Show Cause Notice.
The petitioners were represented by Advocate Zia-ul-Hasan, who argued that the demand notice was issued unfairly, without giving them the chance to respond to a Show Cause Notice.
Ms. Afsheen Aman, the legal representative for Pakistan Customs, agreed to the suggestion of issuing a fresh Show Cause Notice if allowed under the law. The court accepted this proposal, and the case was resolved. The bench, led by Justice Agha Faisal and Justice Abdul Mubeen Lakho, decided to dispose of the case, allowing the department to issue a new Show Cause Notice as necessary.
